A hard and shocking story of life in a British borstal for young offenders. The production was completed in 1977 for the BBC's Play for Today series, with a scheduled broadcast date of 8 November 1977, but was banned from broadcast by the BBC after the change in management, with controller Bill Cotton citing concerns over its intense violence and perceived realism. It remained withheld for 14 years before finally being screened on BBC2 in 1991.
